Origins and Reasons for the Nationality Rooms, the early years 1920s through 1940s
The University of Pittsburgh's renowned Nationality Rooms are gifts from the ethnic communities who helped to build Pittsburgh. 31 rooms commemorate the cultural heritages of the communities who supported and planned their construction.
This talk by Michael P. Walter, Manager of Education Programs, Nationality Rooms and Intercultural Exchange Program, will discuss what decisions were made to create this program at the University of Pittsburgh, the way it occurred, and how that has laid a foundation for nearly 100 years of continuance.
The 33rd Nationality and Intercultural Exchange Programs Holiday Open House will occur on
Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 12-4 pm.
